Serenity (Widescreen Edition)

Ok, I'm sorry. Sorry that I haven't posted a blog since before the start of the fall semester. And I'm sorry I haven't been there for any of you guys. I....am just getting so choked up! Strong Terry, STRONG TERRY!!

Just kidding. But seriously, it has been awhile, so my bad. So as you may or may not (shame) know, it's that time again. I'm not talking about lunch time, or game time, or Hammer Time. It's Christmas time. Or if your Jewish, it's Hannukah time. Or if your Atheist, it's Nothing time. In either case (Atheists excluded), it's time for presents and what not. A time for you to be nice to people that you truly cannot stand to be around. A time to bottle up rage, so you may unleash it during a non festive time of the year. But, more importantly, a time for giving. This year, I bought gifts for people that I have never bought gifts for, and I feel really good about myself. Not that I buy presents for others to make myself happy. Cause, yeah...that'd be kinda gay.

"You wanna know how I know your gay? You buy presents to make yourself happy."

I love the The 40 Year Old Virgin, so I hope that you'll forgive me for paraphrasing that movie. But, I digress. I'm happy that I really made an effort to get others presents this year; I love giving someone something that they really want, and seeing their reaction. It's good. Maybe that's the reason I want to make films for a living, I dunno. Sounds cheesy, but I don't care.

Moving on from that subject, I purchased the film Serenity on DVD. After even more repeat viewings on top of repeat viewings (believe me, my friends are one step closer to believing that intervention is the answer), I realized that words cannot express my unabashed love for this little motion picture that could. With 35 million dollars, Joss Whedon managed to make a movie that's more fulfilling on every possible level than all 3 Star Wars prequels put together. It's bursting at the seams with emotion, and has an obscene amount of depth. Seriously, when it comes to writing characters, George Lucas needs to take serious notes from Joss Whedon. Furthermore, the way this film is shot just makes me have a geekgasm in the biggest way; the lighting is some of the best I have ever seen. The mise en scene, the symbolism, the old western parallels--everything is executed so well. Obviously, I cannot stop ranting about how good this movie is, so please go watch it. As a Christmas present to me, go rent it or watch it with a friend. Maybe you could go wild and rent it AND watch it with a friend. Or you could just buy it. That works too.

But whatever the case may be, I thought I'd give you a small update on the going-ons in my life. Cause you know, this is my blog, and I'll do what I want on it. Booyah. I'll have another entry sooner than later. Ciao.

Random Quote of the Day:

"I want to see little children look at Serenity playing on a television in a video store and say 'Look, Mommy, the intransigent moral rectitude of the antagonist's world view renders him humble until the point of arrogance!' Kids are so cute."-Joss Whedon

It's been far too long since I've written anything coherent. I apologize for my last entry; just needed to get something out.

Anywho, the more I think about it, life is going pretty alright. I moved into my apartment, which is 200 feet from my parent's house, but it is still very cool nonetheless. Not too much else has been going on, though that's what happens when you work 2 jobs.

I've been getting more and more excited as the start of the fall semester draws near. I need some variety, and HCC is where I'll find it. Words cannot express my excitement for getting back into the click of friends that I fell into last semester at that certain student center table. I can't wait to get hands on with filming stuff again, and most of all, I can't wait to get back into vocal jazz. That was a great barrel of fun last semester, and it's just the thing I need now. The teacher is awesome, and there is always a good vibe. Instead of constant drama, it's constant fun. Everybody is just aiming for a good time. Hardly the Banghart Nazi Regime days of old.

I look forward to a ton of things when college starts back up: making new friends, seeing the old gang, stumbling over my words trying to talk to the girl in vocal jazz, making hilarious movies, writing hilarious scripts, watching movies on laptops during breaks, inadvertantly making one of my teachers think I am very weird, going to the chinese buffet in a packed car in celebration of aceing a test, going to the bar with vocal jazz, desperately planning something for open mic but never actually going through with it, making people literally fall on the floor from laughter, and eating that oh so delicious, artery clogging, yet suprisingly satisfying student center food.

It will be a good year.

I am completely, utterly sick of being expected to take everyone's shit.

And I'm also sick of being blamed/criticized for my preferences/opinions about nothing. Especially from people that are too insecure/retarded enough to think that they are never to blame and are always right.

Thus ends my statement.

For who this applies to: Don't like it? Oh well, sit on it and twirl for awhile.

It's been quite awhile. I'll give you all an update later.

Well, it's been awhile. Again. Whoops.

Anyway, not much to speak of:

Saw Batman. Really dug it. Also saw Land of the Dead. That movie also owns. Do see it.

Then, last night, I saw War of the Worlds. Once again, that movie was total ownage. One problem though; when the first alien tripod came outta the ground and started killing people, I was totally waiting for a little green creature to come out and shout "I AM ZIIIIIM!!". Too bad that didn't happen.

Other than that, not much else has gone on. I'm starting my job at HCC next week, so I should be getting back into the swing of things. Plus, cash flow = a good thing.

Oh and please disregard the "To hell with the following" thing from last entry. Everything is just great. It's so much better when you don't care. To quote Dead Like Me, "I totally excel in not giving a shit.". Make no mistake, I still care about the right things, just no longer the things that irk me.

So if your mean to me, watch out for me...not caring. So if I'm lied to, watch in awe as I....not care. So if you serve up my steak burrito 25 minutes after I order it, witness me.....not care. It's simple, saves time and very effective.

My last entry made it sound like things could not have possibly gotten worse.

Welp, it's worse. So fuck all. (THERE IT IS AGAIN!!)

To HELL with the following (in no specific order):

-Friends
-Any person that truly believes that he is above everyone else.
-Perverts
-Gamestop
-Mind games
-Taco Bell
-People that think cheating is okay
-Women
-Love
-Drinking
-This whole damn week

My friend, one who has been my friend for good awhile (and shall remain so) coined a new phrase. "That's about 9 kinds of gay". And that's exactly what Friday night was. I should have seen it coming the second I made the slightest mention of myself having fun.

It's all worse. Not just Friday. But, I have just lost all care. I am completely numb. Unpleasantly so. Hell, at least it doesn't hurt. I think I've seen so much crap land on my life lately that my inner, emotive self has finally found the EMPATHY OFF switch. I no longer care about the troubles that plague me, nor do I care for those who cause me them. I am completely devoid of all kinds of care. I could literally tell someone I don't like that I completely hate them. To their face. Without care. And probably with a song in my heart. I'm aware this is bad. But yet, I just can't seem to care.

I got to vent to Nate on Saturday afternoon/evening though. It was quite fun. And we watched Arrested Development on DVD. That brought the spirits up slightly.

On a slightly "up" note, my parents are past the "ignoring the hell out of each other" phase and are talking again. I think they agreed to disagree. So, defying all odds, they managed to not get a divorce, despite what happened.

Ah, oh well. I don't really know how to end this entry. So...
